Ocean Pines Golf Club to Host Taylor Bank / Ocean Pines Jr. Golf Scholarship Tournament

The Ocean Pines Golf Members’ Council will host the Taylor Bank / Ocean Pines 34th Annual Jr. Golf Scholarship Tournament at Ocean Pines Golf Club on Wednesday, June 13 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
 
This year’s event is being held in honor of long-time Ocean Pines Golf Club member Chuck Shelton, who passed away this spring. It benefits junior golf in the area by helping support junior golf clinics and an annual tournament for junior golfers. It also raises funds for scholarships that are presented to local high school seniors who have expressed an interest in golf.
 
The public entry fee is $80 per person, which includes greens fee, cart, team prizes, men’s and ladies’ closest-to-the-pin prizes, door prizes, continental breakfast, on-course refreshments and lunch at Taylor’s Neighborhood Restaurant following the tournament. The entry fee for Ocean Pines golf members with a cart package is $50 and $65 for members without a cart package.

Taylor Bank/Ocean Pines Golf Tournament Returns

The public is invited to enjoy a fun morning of golf at the 34th Annual Taylor Bank / Ocean Pines Golf Tournament to benefit junior golf on Wednesday, June 13 at 9 am. The tournament, with the generous support of Taylor Bank and other local businesses, is a major fundraising event that has allowed Ocean Pines Golf Club the ability to conduct junior golf clinics, a junior golf invitational tournament and donate at least $3,000 per year in scholarships to local students.
 
The tournament format is a four-person modified scramble; teams must use each player's drive two times. The entry fee is $50 for Ocean Pines golf members with a cart package, $65 for Ocean Pines golf members without a cart package and $80 for the public.

Online Registration Now Open for Summer Jr. Golf Camps

Online registration has begun for Ocean Pines Golf Club’s popular junior golf camp. Four sessions of the camp, which is open to the public, will be offered throughout the summer.
 
The four-day camps, designed for ages 5-14, will be held June 25-28, July 9-12, July 23-26 and Aug. 6-9 from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
 
PGA Director of Golf John Malinowski and staff will provide instruction in swing basics, chipping and putting, rules and etiquette, the use of irons and woods and more. Beginner and experienced junior players are encouraged to attend.

Tern Grille Open This Winter for Weekend Dining

Area residents won’t have to venture far this winter to enjoy a meal out. The Tern Grille, located in the heart of the community at Ocean Pines Golf Club, is now open on weekends for drinks and casual dining.
 
The opening of the Tern Grille coincides with the closure of The Cove at Mumford’s, preserving a dining option right in Ocean Pines.
 
The Tern Grille, located at 100 Clubhouse Drive, is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 4-9 p.m. and on Sundays from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. It features a casual dining menu as well as a prime rib night, Sunday breakfast buffet and weekly football specials. (Updated 4/9/18 Please note that weekend dining at the Tern Grille, including prime rib night and the Sunday breakfast buffet, has concluded. The Tern Grille is now open for the spring and summer season – visit OceanPinesGolf.org for updated hours and menu.)
 
Prime rib is offered every Friday and includes prime rib, au jus, a baked potato and vegetable. The price is $14.99 for 12 ounces of prime rib and $18.99 for 16 ounces.
 
A breakfast buffet, served Sundays from 9 a.m. – noon, is $12.99 for adults and $7.99 for children and includes a variety of traditional breakfast favorites including scrambled eggs, potatoes and onions, French toast, pancakes, bacon and sausage, sausage gravy and biscuits and an omelet and waffle station. Bloody Mary and mimosa drink specials are also available.
 
After undergoing an extensive expansion and renovation in 2017, the Tern Grille has ample table and bar seating and sweeping views of the golf course’s picturesque 18th hole.
 
The restaurant’s ten televisions will be available for football viewing, and food and drink specials will be offered in conjunction with the playoff games.
 

Santa's Open Golf Tournament Raises Money for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Area golfers enjoyed golf and holiday cheer at the Santa’s Open Charity Golf Tournament, held on Saturday, Dec. 2 at Ocean Pines Golf Club.
 
The event, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, raised over $8,600 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore and collected a variety of gifts for area children in need. This year marks the fifth consecutive year the Santa’s Open has been held at Ocean Pines.
 
Ocean Pines Golf Club PGA Director of Golf John Malinowski was instrumental in bringing the annual tournament to the course.
 
“I had worked with the Santa’s Open for several years prior to my coming to Ocean Pines and was excited to bring the event to this course,” Malinowski said. “I’m proud of how the Ocean Pines community has rallied around the tournament and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore year after year.”
 
Presented by title sponsor Delmarva Power, this year’s event saw close to 90 golfers and numerous area businesses participate. Four-person teams competed for first-, second- and third-place low gross; first-, second- and third-place low net and closest to the pin. Awards were presented at a reception ceremony at the Tern Grille at Ocean Pines Golf Club following the tournament.
