Players Compete in OPMGA Member-Member Tournament

2021 Member Member winnersThe Ocean Pines Men's Golf Association and tournament chair Mike Daley hosted 44 players in the annual Member-Member tournament on Saturday, July 24.

Charlie McMichael and Marcel Vales led the field with a gross score of even par 72, which included two birdies by McMichael. Mike Mason and Art Henshaw were second with a 3 over par 75.

The prize for low net score for 18 holes went to Hank Morgan and Charles Choate, who shot a 7 under 65. They also took the low net prize on the front nine with a 4 under score of 32; McMichael and Vales led the field with a gross score of one under par 35 for the front nine.

On the back nine, Darin Stuiber and James Terry shot even par to win the prize for low gross while Don McMullen and Joe Scallion won the award for low net, beating out McMichael and Vales on a match of cards with a 3 under score of 33.

Ravens Roost Seeks Sponsors, Participants for Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament

Ocean City Ravens Roost #44 will be holding their 24th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on Friday, June 4 at the Ocean Pines Golf Club, a Robert Trent Jones-designed course.

This tournament is being held in conjunction with the Council of Baltimore Ravens Roost State Convention being held in Ocean City from June 3-6.

All proceeds from this tournament fund scholarships to our three local high schools (Indian River, Stephen Decatur and Worcester Preparatory). In 2020, we awarded $13,200 to our awardees. To date, we have awarded $200,200 in scholarships. 

Due to successful fundraising by our members and the continued support by our local business community, Ravens Roost #44 is proud to announce that we will award a minimum of $13,200 to our local students graduating in 2021. This will take our total awards to $213,400 to local students since the inception of our grant giving.

It is compatible with Ocean Pines Golf Club's TaylorMade club fitting system and other golf club manufacturers. Professional club fittings ensure that the purchase of a new set of clubs is a worthwhile investment.

The price for a full club fitting, which includes irons, woods and putter, is $50. A fitting for irons only is $40. A woods fitting is $30, and a putter fitting is $20.

Domenic Monaco Named Men's Club Champion

Domenic Monaco triumphed in a two-day tournament to win the title of 2020 Men's Ocean Pines Golf Club Champion.
 
The annual event, held this year Oct. 10-11, was open to Ocean Pines residents. In addition to prize money for his win, Monaco will receive the use of the Men's Club Champion parking space for a year.

OPLGA Holds Successful Club Championship and Governors' Cup

The Ocean Pines Ladies' Golf Association hosted two fun days of golf and two tournaments on Sept. 28 and 29 at Ocean Pines Golf Club.
 
For the first round, played on Sept. 28, ten golfers played the back 9 in the Club Championship. 

On Sept. 29, those players, joined by six more, more played the front 9. The scores from that day were used to complete the Club Championship (an 18-hole low gross event) as well as for the annual Governors' Cup tournament (a 9-hole low net event).
