(August 11, 2026) The Ocean Pines Golf Club will once again host the Ernie Stiles’ Memorial Bavarian Hops Golf Classic on Friday, August 28, with a 4pm shotgun start at the Ocean Pines Golf Club.

 

The event has raised over $42,000 over the years for local charities, stemming from Ernie’s idea to simply go out for 9 holes, have some fun, and support some good causes. Non-golfers are welcome to join the fun by attending the 7th hole party, where they can cheer and jeer as participants go for the closest to the pin prize – the coveted Hops Hat.

 

Sponsored by the Ocean Pines Golf Clubs Ladies & Men’s Associations, this year’s event supports Diakonia and the Worcester County Humane Society, charities of Ernie’s choosing.

 

The format is a 2-person Scramble for 9 holes. Men will play from the Orange tees, and Ladies will play from the Red tees.

 

All friends and participants are welcome to a dinner at The Clubhouse Grill following play. Available menu items include the “Arthur Avenue” (Grilled Italian Sausage), Loaded Homemade Chili, Chicken Salad Wrap, Southside Black Bean Burger, or Cheeseburger. You are asked to pre-order your dinner entrée at the Grill.

 

The event is limited to 72 competitors. The entry fee is $25 per player, and cart & greens fees are the responsibility of each participant. Spaces fill up fast; don’t wait on getting your entry submitted.

(July 8, 2026) Enjoy a fun day of golf followed by a tropical luau at the Ocean Pines Golf Club on Sunday, August 23. 

Open to the public, the Luau Golf Tournament & Party features a 9-hole scramble with a 3 p.m. shotgun start. A Luau Buffet at the Clubhouse Bar & Grille will follow play.

 

Registration is $45 for golf members and $70 for non-members and includes golf and range balls, the luau buffet, soft drink, and one door prize ticket for a chance to win great prizes. Alcohol is not included in registration.

(June 23, 2026) The Ocean Pines Golf Club will host the Claret Jug Classic on Saturday, July 19, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

The tournament will feature 18 holes with two player teams. Each player will utilize a spinning wheel to select one Open Championship professional before play begins, with the team score being combined with the scores of the selected professionals. The team with the lowest combined total wins.

A brunch buffet and Open Championship Watch Party will follow play.

Prizes include Pro Shop gift cards, Touch of Italy gift cards, and engraved Claret Jug Classic beer mugs for the winning team.

Registration is $45 per player for golf members and $95 per player for non-members. Spots are limited, so players are encouraged to register early.
