The Ocean Pines men's and ladies' groups took to the course this past week for two fun annual events.
The Ocean Pines Men's Golf Association held its President's Cup tournament on Saturday, May 11. With rain throughout the forecasts, the event was played in warm sunshine and cool temperatures - a great day to be on the golf course. Al Wolski did a repeat as the Low Gross Champion and Warren Oxford was the Low Net Champion. The group's next major event will be the Ryder Cup Championship on Saturday & Sunday, June 29-30.
President's Cup Winners
Low Gross: Al Wolski, 83
Low Net: Warren Oxford: 88 - 23 = 65
We're golfers, too, and know that playing at a snail's pace can ruin a round. While some factors (like "cart-path only" or a full tee sheet) are unavoidable, there are some steps golfers in Ocean Pines can take to play faster, smarter and better.
1. Play the Right Set of Tees
There's no need to make your round harder than it needs to be. Especially if you're not familiar with the course, try playing from a shorter set of tees. You'll speed up play and probably have more fun, too.
Join us on the driving range and try out the latest equipment from Srixon and Cleveland Golf on Wednesday, May 8. Free Srixon and Cleveland Golf club fittings will be held from 12-4pm; free Srixon ball fittings will be held from 4-6pm. No registration is required. Open to the public! For more information, please call 410-641-6057.
Construction is slated to begin this year on a new clubhouse! The brand-new facility will feature an expansive bar and grill, dedicated space for club repair and fittings and a large deck designed to take full advantage of the sweeping views of our 18th hole and pond.
What will stay the same are our classic Robert Trent Jones, Sr.-designed course, friendly staff, superb practice facilities and incredible golf value.
Stay tuned for additional updates and progress reports, but in the meantime check out the proposed design below!
Ocean Pines PGA Director of Golf John Malinowski had the opportunity recently to show off the course on "Endless Golf" with host Bobby Vermillion. The episode features John and Bobby playing the 11th and 12th holes and showcases the course's fabulous conditions this spring. You'll also see John share some putting golf tips. The show is airing on stations up and down the East Coast and can also be viewed on YouTube!
